As part of the normal aging process, the skin of the eyelids becomes looser, losing its elasticity. There is also often some movement of the normal fat around the eyes, allowing it to bulge forward making the eyelids baggy or puffy. This is a natural process as we age, though in some individuals it can have an earlier onset.

Surgery to correct this is called "blepharoplasty".

Procedure time:  1/2 to 1h.

Local or general anaesthetic.

Hospitalization : 0 to 1 day.

Time off work : 8 to 15 days.
